Over the last 20 years, the Oakville Academy for the Arts has set the standard for dance and arts instruction in Canada. Under the direction of founder Heidi Schofield, the Academy has become home to some of the brightest young minds and personalities in the community.
The Academy has seen dancers as young as two years old blossom into pillars of the competitive team by the age of twelve and go on to become instructors at OAA eventually attending some of the finest post-secondary Arts institutions in North America.
Prior to founding her own school, Heidi enrolled her daughter Cassie (who now co-directs the Oakville Academy) in several arts-focused programs throughout the GTA. Exposure to some poorly lead programs and surviving the drive to multiple studios and locations after putting in a full day of work at her own career convinced Heidi that she could do Arts Education much better. The Oakville Academy For The Arts was born.
OAA has been recognized by Metroland Media for Readers’ Choice “Best Dance Studio” since its’ inception, has been awarded the Consumers Choice Award for Arts the last 9 years running, and has even been recognized by the Prime Minister’s office as one of the ten best arts education institutions in Canada.
Simply put, no Arts school does it quite the way OAA does it. OAA recitals and performances are staged on the grandest scale anywhere in Canada. OAA faculty are among the most accomplished, technically proficient educators in their respective disciplines and several of OAA’s music instructors have toured North America with some of the biggest pop artists working today.
The best part of the Oakville Academy “way” is that every student and their family become part of the Oakville Academy family. If you’re thinking of enrolling your child into Dance, Fine Art, Music or Drama you owe it to yourself to explore the Oakville Academy for the Arts.
