Acting

Our Acting Program is all about building self-confidence, improving, demonstratable skills, knowledge growth in all genres and personal goal achievement. Below is a sample class outline. The students in this program will participate in our Santa Claus Parade if they choose, have a parent week performance in January and a Presentation Recital in June.

This is excellent support for those prepping for school play auditions, specialty high schools, and public speaking (life skills)!

2024-2025 Lesson Plan

What we will be focusing on for the first couple of weeks of classes:

Improv/Drama games at the start: This will help the children to express their energy and thoughts at the start of the class. Just like a warm in dance, with acting and improv as well it is nice to feel more in your body and get the brain warmed up.

Acting in the Theatre 101: We will be teaching the basics of being on stage and acting in theatre. We will go over how to present yourself in front of an audience, how to not show your back and also how to use the voice properly focusing on diction and projection. We will bring in a new fun tongue twister every week to go over and focus on getting it done perfectly.

Basic Structure of a Scene: We will go over the basics of how a scene is structured, with improv there are many rules to follow to keep the scene going and with the use of games and scene work it is a fun way to teach how a scene builds and where it can go.

These are the key points we will be looking at. Once these basics are completed we will then go a little more in depth with reactions and the use of tactics. We will also to teach how to be comedic in a scene. We want to make sure that the kids have a fun space where they all feel safe to be silly when they need to! Acting is all about having fun and learning the right way to play on stage. With these key points it will help all the kids be able to look at scene break it down and be able to have fun on stage.
