Heidi Lange

Piano, Vocal & Music Theory Instructor

Heidi Lange is very excited to be returning for her second season at The Oakville Academy for the Arts. She is very proud of her students’ accomplishments over the last year and can’t wait to see their development over the next season. Heidi  has been singing since before she could talk.  Exposed to everything from Bach to Boney M. growing up in Burlington , she didn’t learn to classify music at a very early age.  She began studying violin when she was 7, followed by piano a year later.  While she sang at home constantly, and loved being in school choirs, shyness prevented her from singing solo in front of other people until she was in high school.

At that point, she decided to embrace the fact that singing was her passion, and hasn’t looked back since.  She has since studied Music Theatre ( University of Windsor ) and Jazz ( Mohawk College ) formally, while continuing to absorb classical, pop and rock influences along the way.  She has performed onstage in English-style music hall productions, classic musicals such as Hair and Godspell, as well as the Canadian premiere of the gritty, Tony-award winning The Life.  Heidi loves to share her gifts and has found great joy in teaching voice and piano lessons, as well as music theatre classes for the past 7 years and finding balance with her performing career. Heidi has released one album already with a voice described as warm, expressive, sultry and heartfelt. Heidi’s main goal is musical honesty.  Supported by a stellar line-up of musicians, the sound is distinctive and original her album,  Late,r reflects the potpourri of her musical background with elements of jazz, soul and cabaret.  Performances in the summer of 2009 at the Beaches Jazz Festival and the Festival of Friends have gained more fans for Heidi’s unique sound.  Heidi looks forward to Music Festivals, RCM exams and performances as methods for challenging and strengthening her students’ abilities.
