Competitive Auditions 2011-2012:    Please phone for an appointment

Our faculty is dedicated to conducting their classes in a disciplined manner, with positive re-enforcement in a warm friendly atmosphere, as well as striving to reach each dancers individual potential.  Competition provides each dancer the opportunity to achieve their personal best.  The knowledge and technique combined with the performance experience will make a positive impact on each dancer throughout their years.

At the Oakville Academy for the Arts, Ballet and Jazz are the mandatory disciplines of our competitive program.  We believe that these two disciplines compliment each other  to create a solid technical foundation.  Tap, Lyrical, Acro and Hip Hop are highly recommended for our competitive dancers, to increase their versatility and training, however they are optional. Our competitive dancers train between 6-12 hours per week depending on their age and company. If selected for Solo, Duet, Trio, Small Group or Extended Line extra choreography, those additional hours will be added to their schedule. The Competitive dancers will participate in  4-5 competitions throughout the year, traveling across Ontario and into the United States. These competitions allow the dancers to showcase their talents and performing abilities as well as be adjudicated on their talent and performance skills.
